The bill stipulates that on January 1st or after 2024, no screw or bayonet base will be provided for a compact fluorescent lamp or a final sales as a new manufacturing product; on January 1, 2025, It will not be provided with a Pin Base compact fluorescent light, linear fluorescent lamp, or final sales as a new manufacturing product. The following lamps are not limited by the bill:

1. Lights used for image capture and projection

2. Lights with higher ultraviolet light transmission ratio

3. Lights used for medical or veterinary diagnosis or treatment, or lamps used for medical devices

4. Lights used for pharmaceutical product manufacturing or quality control

5. Lights used for spectral and optical applications

Foreign media pointed out that although fluorescent lamps contained harmful mercury to the environment in the past, because it was the most energy -saving lighting technology at that time, it was allowed to use and even promote it. In the past 10 years, LED lighting has gradually become popular. Because its electricity consumption is only half of the fluorescent lamp, it is a lighting alternative with high hair light efficiency and low cost characteristics. The AB2208 Act is an important climate protection measure, which will significantly save electricity and carbon dioxide emissions. Reduce the use of fluorescence and accelerate the popularization of LED lighting.

It is reported that Fermont voted before 2023 and 2024 to eliminate compact fluorescent lights and 4 -foot linear fluorescent lights, respectively. After the AB-2208 Act passed, California became the second American state to pass the fluorescent light ban. Compared with the provisions of Vermont, the California Act also incorporated 8 -foot linear fluorescent lamps into the elimination product.

According to foreign media observations, more and more places around the world have begun to attach importance to LED lighting technology and eliminate the use of mercury -containing fluorescent lamps. In December last year, the European Union announced that it would basically ban all mercury -containing fluorescent lamps before September 2023. In addition, as of March this year, a total of 137 local governments have voted through the "Water Capital Convention on Milivities" and decided to gradually eliminate compact fluorescent lamps by 2025.
